Sunshine

Release Date: July 27th 2007

Bechdel Test: Fail

Plot Outline: A set of astronauts set out to re-ignite the dying sun.

What I really like about this movie is that it surrounds the sun dying out and the earth and humans existence possibly coming to an end BUT that is not what Sunshine is about. Sunshine is more about the moral dilemmas and questionable decisions the crew aboard the space ship (they are trying to save the sun) experience.

The moral dilemmas in this film make you think about mankind, yourself, and fear. We really see the raw instincts but also weighing, logical, and illogical decisions of these few crew-members. There are many cases when they have to decide what is good for them or what benefits the entire planet.

Pay close attention to each character, their dialogue, and their specialties. Everything throughout the entire movie has a strong meaning attached to it. It was an extremely well thought out plot.

Sunshine is a very powerful film; it is one that really leaves you thinking for days after you watch it.
