The Guilt Trip

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 31, 2014 by Des

Release Date: December 2012

Plot Outline:

Rating: 3/5 stars

Bechdel Test: Fail

I have to say that I expected nothing going into The Guilt Trip. It looked ridiculous and silly but sometimes I am in that kind of mood so I went for it. I am shocked to say this but I was pleasantly surprised by The Guilt Trip. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I never thought I would say this but The Guilt Trip was absolutely adorable!

For one, the relationship between Andrew Brewster (Seth Rogan) and his mother, Joyce Brewster( Barbra Streisand) was perfect. Their chemistry was spot on! I loved watching the two interact. Their interactions had me cracking up.

The plot was very interesting and sweet. This young man wants his mother to find love again, so he kind of tricks her and has her come with him to his cleaning supply pitches, but all the while, he is planning on bringing her to her long lost loves house…even though spending all his time with his annoying mother is the last thing he wants.

The Guilt Trip was so adorable and made me so happy. I even teared up!

If you want a sweet, cute, adorable family comedy, this is the film for you! I think this movie went way under the radar which makes me sad because it was so enjoyable.

The Brass Teapot

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 30, 2014 by Des

\Release Date: April 2013

Plot Outline: An adorable, loving couple that have issues with money discover a brass teapot that gives them money anytime they hurt themselves or each other. How far are they willing to go to solve their money woes?

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

I absolutely adore Juno Temple and I will see any film she is in. I originally wanted to see The Brass Teapot because of her but once I watched the trailer, I wanted to see it right away. I knew it was going to be fun to watch.

The Brass Teapot is by no means a fantastic movie that everyone needs to see but I loved it. I thoroughly enjoyed myself while watching it. There were so many times I laughed out loud and couldn’t stop. Though The Brass Teapot was predictable at times, other times I was genuinely shocked, usually when the film became dark. The movie was violent at times, which is to be expected from a movie that is about a teapot that gives you money when you hurt yourself or others.

The chemistry between Alice (Juno Temple) and John (Michael Angarano) was perfect. They were adorable and totally believable as a couple.

This is a film that anyone can relate to. We all want more of something. This film allows us to put ourselves into the shoes of the main characters because they are so relatable. This film allows us to ask ourselves, “How far would I go?”

Walk of Shame

Posted in Pretty Good with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 19, 2014 by Des

imagesRelease Date: May 2nd, 2014

Plot Outline: A reporter’s dream of becoming a news anchor is compromised after a one-night stand leaves her stranded in downtown L.A. without a phone, car, ID or money – and only 8 hours to make it to the most important job interview of her life. (

Rating: 2.5/5

While Walk of Shame was not the best movie I have seen lately, it was largely entertaining. With its over the top and exaggerated conflicts, I was laughing and giggling with without shame! I know this movie is dumb but Walk of Shame knows it’s dumb and a guilty watch though, that’s why it is ridiculous without apology. Walk of Shame knows what it is and it is not ashamed. It is ridiculous!

Elizabeth Banks is adorable and funny. She is mistaken for a prostitute throughout the film because she is wearing a little yellow dress from clubbing the night before. She finds herself in the ghetto, a crack house, and trying to steal her car from an impound lot.

This movie is by no means deep or emotional or winning any awards any time soon but I recommend it if you are in the mood for a dumb, mindless comedy. I laughed and you might too.

Kids in America

Release Date: October 21st 2005

Plot Outline: A diverse group of high school students stick together to teach their principal a lesson.

Kids…what can I say about Kids?

Ummm….well. The message was a strong and positive one. The wardrobe definitely enhanced the message, with the kids sporting t-shirts with messages like, “Fight the power”.

That was all well and good but the acting was beyond horrendous! It was…I don’t even think there are words in existence to describe how I felt about the acting. Lets just say that I turned the movie off despite the positive message.

Because I turned Kids off so soon I don’t really have much to say about it.

Let me know how it was if you can manage to sit through it!

She’s Out of My League

Posted in Liked it a lot with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 16, 2010 by Des

Release Date: March 12, 2010

Plot Outline: An average Joe meets the perfect woman, but his lack of confidence and the influence of his friends and family begin to pick away at the relationship.(

I really, really enjoyed watching She’s Out of My League. It wasn’t as great as Zack and Miri Make a Porno or Forgetting Sarah Marshall, two movies I think it was aiming to identify with. But it was highly enjoyable to watch with friends.

There were quite a few laugh out loud moments. She’s Out of My League was so much fun to watch. It was a lighthearted comedy but surprisingly, contained a lot of positive messages about self-image, self-esteem, and self-perception.

She’s Out of My League was a very sweet story that contained many diverse, likable characters. We even like the ex boyfriend in this one because he was amusing with his actions and comments. I liked that the movie had a realistic element to it. The characters had complex emotions and analyzed themselves, their friends, and situations the way people really do. It is a very believable love story that I think a lot of people can relate to.

There were a ton of movie references made by all of the characters, which I always enjoy.

Overall, She’s Out of My League is definitely a movie to see with friends. It was cute, sweet, and very funny.
